Thursday is the new Tuesday here at Katy in a Corner. I’m giving y’all a How-to Tuesday on a Thursday just to keep you on your toes and coming back for more every day. Also because I’m stuck at home all sick with nothing else to do.
Unless you count watching the kids watch TV as something to do.
So, I ended up wearing the laminated bracelet of shame no less than an hour after I recorded the “How to Self-Diagnose Using WebMD” video last night.
The whole situation is pretty ironic, actually.
I’ll give you the full details of that huge embarrassment tomorrow, but I wanted to give you the prequel today.
I think WebMD is probably one of the worst things to happen to the medical community. It gives patients just enough information to be really dangerous.
Do you use WebMD to self-diagnose?

These are just funny. Funny. You should be an actress.
You made my day!!! Hope you are really feeling better though!
katyinacorner “I gotta see if bleeding esophageal varices are contagious.” Hilarious. Needed this today!
I do NOT use WebMD anymore after I convinced my husband he had been bitten by a brown recluse spider (don’t look up spider bites–ew!) in the thumb. He went to one of those “doc in a box” type urgent care facilities and after putting on Toy Story 2 like “toy repairman” magnifying glasses, the doc told him he had a “worm” in his thumb. Thank you, WebMD! (FYI: he did NOT have a worm in his thumb.)
Hope you feel better! Good for you for still making us laugh when you felt so cruddy!
Katy,
I have a correction. You did not miss school parties because you had strep. You missed them because you would get so excited you would make yourself sick and start throwing up. But I would still go and take the cupcakes, brownies, or whatever I had made. And a fun time was had by ALL.
Love you!!!
Phinesley Mama, you’re giving away all of my childhood secrets. Don’t make me start giving away yours. 🙂
This post is both disturbing to me (as an RN) and hilarious (as a frequenter of WebMD). However, I sent it to my husband, and there is an actual real site (who’s name I will not reveal to protect the names of the innocent) for doctors to complain to other doctors about the crazy things patients come to them saying and doing, and he will be looking for your story to come across it. 🙂 And he said he’ll look at your throat via skype for the low, low price of $50. ~Bekah
The video was hilarious. I need to watch the next one now. And I do use WebMD to self-diagnose. Crazy stuff.
